I have over three years' experience in teaching English as a foreign language (EFL), but have been a private tutor for almost ten years. I have taught children from 4 years old, to adults up to 60 years old. I have taught beginner, elementary, pre-intermediate and intermediate level English. I have also tutored high school students in poetry and prose. I am bilingual – I can speak English (native) and Afrikaans (fluent).

In our first lesson, we have a short chat about your English level, goals, and wishes, so that I can tailor each class to your needs. Classes usually entail three or four of the following aspects of language learning: grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, reading and writing. The writing part is for you to practise at home what you have learnt in class, and the listening is for you to practise what you've learnt in class, in different real-life contexts.

We can talk about various topics – from work life, to family, health and wellness, hobbies and interests, news, mysteries, movies, books, and science. Whatever you're interested in, we can talk about it! I will try to make every lesson relevant to your personal interests and goals.

The dynamics of the class are simple, we engage with the content and each other as though we are in a real conversation. I don't want to talk the whole lesson – I want you to talk to me as much as you can and want to. I won't interrupt you while you are talking, and we will respect each other as friends do.

Lessons are between 45 and 60 minutes, once a week. (If you want two or more lessons a week, then we can arrange that!)
