I tailor my methods of teaching depending on my students and their needs. I can help explain and solidify knowledge in a topic through active and engaging discussions, similar to seminar led education. I value the importance of asking questions and allowing the tutee the space to figure out solutions with my assistance. When I listen to the students' response I can determine their ability to explain their thought process and whether they are struggling with any course content, the issues indicated in their response will inform what to focus on for the rest of our sessions. If a student is struggling with memorising information there are different techniques to help retain their course material for example condensing notes through mind maps and diagrams for visual learners. I will guide students to effectively use the resources available to them such as their textbooks, past tests, exemplar answers etc. I would like to provide my students with the tools to study independently and gain confidence in their academic ability. I then assess my students' development through practice questions, papers and flashcards, these will hopefully indicate which methods are most effective on each individual student.
