Hi, I’m Herb, a second-year Physics student at the University of Bath, currently on track for a First-Class degree. I specialise in GCSE and A-Level Maths and Physics.
If you’re finding certain topics confusing, overwhelming, or simply not clicking, I help break them down with clarity, structure, and logical precision. I achieved an A* in Maths and an A in Physics and Further Maths, and I now use both subjects daily in my degree, meaning the foundational principles are not only fresh but understood at a deeper, more advanced level.
My teaching philosophy centres on genuine understanding rather than memorising procedures. I deconstruct complex problems into clear, manageable steps and present concepts from multiple perspectives until they fully make sense. Lessons are deliberately interactive, students actively solve problems, articulate their reasoning, and refine their approach through guided questioning. This builds both technical competence and intellectual confidence.
Each session is carefully tailored to the student’s pace, academic goals, and specific areas for improvement. Whether preparing for GCSEs, A-Levels, or striving for top grades, I integrate exam technique, structured problem-solving strategies, and targeted consolidation to maximise progress.
Beyond grades, my aim is to cultivate long-term confidence, analytical thinking, and genuine enjoyment of Maths and Physics, qualities that extend well beyond the classroom and can lead to future academic success.
If you are motivated and willing to engage fully, I am confident I can help you achieve ambitious academic outcomes and develop lasting academic experience, and hopefully evoke or nurture a pre-existing strong interest in maths and physics.
