I'm a physics student at Imperial College London, just finished the first year of my MSci, and I tutor maths and physics from GCSE up to A-level, including Further Maths.

I sat my own A-levels in 2025, so the current specs are still fresh in my head. I got A*s in Maths, Further Maths and Physics, and did the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge and British Physics Olympiad alongside them (Gold in both). More to the point, I remember which topics felt impossible at the time, because plenty of them did. Not long ago I was the one staring at a moments question with no clue where to start, and I think remembering that makes me a more patient tutor.

Lessons are built around doing rather than watching. I'll explain an idea, but then the pen goes to you: we work through problems together and I nudge rather than hand over answers, because the point is that you can do it alone in the exam hall. In a first session I spend some time working out where the gaps actually are, since the topic a student asks about is often not the one causing the trouble. Closer to exams we shift towards past papers and mark scheme technique, because understanding the physics and actually scoring the marks are, annoyingly, two different skills.

I've tutored GCSE and A-level students in both subjects before, and I'm happy at both ends: pushing for an A* or 9, or rebuilding confidence from a shaky foundation. If you're keen and eyeing the UKMT or BPhO yourself, I can help with that side too.
