Hi, I'm Henrique! I'm a second-year Economics student at the University of Edinburgh and previously completed my GCSEs and A levels at St Paul's School, London. I've always enjoyed helping people understand things that felt confusing at first and I would love to help people improve their skills and get exam-ready. I did really well across my own GCSEs, achieving grade 9s in Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, History, Italian and French, and grade 8s in English Literature, English Language, Biology and Drama. I followed this with A* grades in Economics and Chemistry, and an A in Maths at A-Level. Because of this, I'm comfortable tutoring across a genuinely wide range of subjects, not just one or two, so I can help if your child needs support in several areas.
I already have direct experience tutoring GCSE Maths one-to-one and in a group setting, and what I focus on most is finding the explanation that actually clicks for that specific student because everyone learns differently, and if one way of explaining something doesn't land, I'll try it a different way rather than just repeating myself. My lessons usually start with checking what the student already understands, then working through the trickier parts step by step with plenty of examples, before finishing with practice questions similar to what they'll see in exams, so they leave each session feeling more confident, not just more informed.
I'm patient, easy to talk to, and genuinely don't mind if a student needs something explained three or four times because I understand that that is normal and something might not stick right away, and it's my job to make sure it eventually makes sense, not to make anyone feel rushed. I'm also bilingual in English and Portuguese.
I'm currently studying at university, so I tutor flexibly around my own schedule, including evenings and weekends, and I'm happy to have a quick initial chat to understand exactly what a student needs before we start.
