Helen Dowdell

I currently work in a local Preschool. I have a HND in Early Years Childhood Studies. 9 A-C GCSE passes, A Levels in Art & Sociology and over 20 years experience in early years and primary education.10 years as a Teaching Assistant and intervention teacher. I love being part of a child’s learning journey. I am very creative and enjoy incorporating that into my lessons by designing games, songs and resources based on children’s personal interests. I have had specific training in phonics and reading. I have worked with children individually and in small groups and understand how to plan, deliver, adapt and monitor progress. I am Attention Autism trained and know the importance of tailoring lessons to the individual child’s needs. I have also run my own sensory classes for under 5’s based on my knowledge of how children learning through a multi-sensory approach. Above all I am a mother to two wonderful grown up boys, who have had very different education experiences, one being dyslexic and dyspraxic and the other being very academic, but extremely anxious and this has been the driving force in me wanted to provide 1:1 bespoke tutoring and try to make sure every child has a level playing field and equal opportunity to thrive, learn and grow.
