At school maths was always my favourite subject - but I know that's not the case for many students! If you would like some extra support with maths at KS3, functional skills or GCSE level from someone who is patient and willing to go at your pace then please do get in touch to see if I can help! I believe maths is best learnt by DOING maths, not by revising flashcards - we will go through practice questions & exam papers at whatever speed works for you, at first doing questions together so you can learn the steps to achieve a correct answer and more importantly WHY you are doing each step. Then, when you get more confident, I will reduce the amount of support given so you become more independent and eventually feel great about tackling questions on your own. Equally, I think learning from mistakes is one of the best ways to learn, so we can also go through homework that you have struggled with, and I can support you to understand where things may have gone a bit wrong so that next time, you ace it :) I am offering lessons from 40mins - 1 hour (as I recognise an hour can be too long for some students to have to focus for!) Although I am new to tutoring maths I have experience working with students in a school environment as I have worked as a speech & language therapist for 2 years post-graduating. I have experience working with students with SEND, specifically language disorders - maths can be extra challenging for these students as it actually involves a lot of language, particularly those tricky worded questions! In my role as an SLT at a specialist college I have had experience supporting students to simplify the language of these questions, so if this is something you need support with, please get in touch.
