I am an experienced teacher who is passionate about education. I love to prepare interactive lessons that engage and motivate students. I enjoy lots of opportunities to discuss topics in class and believe students' questions are extremely important. Throughout the lessons, we stop and check understanding before moving on. We address misunderstandings of previously taught topics and ensure there are lots of opportunities to practise in different contexts, as this is the key to ensuring learning is going into the long term memory. Students must understand how they learn and that they take responsibility for their own learning. This develops independence and also an aptitude to continue as a lifelong learner; for example, I like to ask students to be actively involved in working out rules and theories rather than being 'told' a rule or theory.
It is also very important that, as a teacher, I model language/topic effectively and give you a chance to 'have a go' before launching into deeper practice exercises. In most lessons we would follow this model - Review, Teach, Model, Shared Practice, Independent Practice - Plenary.
