I am currently a university student studying Radiography, and I completed A-Level Chemistry, Biology and Maths, alongside Triple Science at GCSE. Because of this strong academic background, I am fully confident tutoring GCSE Maths and GCSE Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), as I have extensive experience with these subjects and a strong understanding of the GCSE exam style and requirements.
In addition to my own academic success, I have developed valuable tutoring experience through supporting my younger cousins with their GCSE Maths and Science studies. This has helped me build patience, communication skills, and the ability to explain difficult topics in a clear and simple way. I have also worked within a volunteering group that supports GCSE students by providing a range of resources, including revision materials and structured guidance. As part of this, I have created multiple sets of revision notes across Maths and the Sciences, designed to help students understand content more effectively and revise in a more organised way.
When teaching, I believe it is important to ensure students genuinely understand the topic rather than simply memorising answers. I would begin by assessing the student’s current level and identifying strengths, weaknesses, and any key gaps in knowledge. From there, I would plan lessons to focus on the most important areas first, gradually building confidence and improving understanding step-by-step. I also place a strong emphasis on exam practice, introducing students to GCSE-style questions early on and guiding them through how to approach them, while teaching them the correct methods and exam techniques.
My lessons would be supportive and structured, and I would encourage students to ask questions freely so they feel comfortable learning. I also aim to help students develop independence by teaching them how to revise efficiently, how to recognise common exam patterns, and how to apply their knowledge in unfamiliar questions.
If suitable, I can also introduce some beyond-specification knowledge, to strengthen students’ understanding of the fundamentals and prepare them well for future qualifications such as A-Levels or other further study. Overall, my goal is to help students not only improve their grades, but also build confidence and enjoy the subjects more.
