I believe anyone can be good at maths with the right teacher. The most important thing is enjoying learning, because the second it stops being fun, it can become incredibly difficult.
I’m new to tutoring, but I bring something valuable: I’ve recently been through years of mathematics study, so I remember exactly what it feels like to get stuck, and what it takes to get unstuck. With two degrees in mathematics, I have a strong command of the subject, and I know that the best explanations often come from someone who has had to work hard to understand an idea themselves.
Many students believe they are “just not a maths person.” I don’t think that’s true. Usually a concept was rushed, or a small gap opened up early on and nobody noticed. Maths builds on itself, so I’ll work with you to find where the confusion began, fix it gently, and rebuild confidence from there.
I’m patient, and I welcome mistakes as useful information. A wrong answer shows us exactly what needs attention, so there’s never any pressure to get things right first time. I’ll explain an idea as many different ways as it takes.
Because I’m starting out, I’ll put real care into preparing each lesson, and I’ll ask for your feedback often so we can adjust to your pace and goals. I’ll use real-life examples and plenty of questions to keep lessons engaging.
As a young woman in maths, I’d love to show every student they belong in the subject. My aim is for you to feel confident, capable, and maybe even excited about maths.
