I begin by identifying your goals, whether that’s improving exam technique, building confidence in tricky areas or deepening your understanding of core topics. Each session usually starts with a short recap to check prior knowledge, followed by a structured explanation of the chosen topic. I then use practice questions, real-life examples and discussion to help you apply the material, as knowledge is best understood when connected to real-world scenarios!
For exam preparation, I place strong emphasis on techniques such as tackling 16-mark/40-mark essays (depending on the subject), applying theories to given situations and structuring responses effectively. I provide detailed feedback on your answers, highlighting strengths while also guiding you on how to develop your points for higher marks. We also work on revision strategies so you can study more efficiently outside of lessons.
My teaching style is flexible and student-centred. I adapt explanations, activities and pace depending on how you learn best. Some students prefer visual diagrams, others enjoy discussions or step-by-step breakdowns of concepts, so I adjust accordingly. I aim to keep lessons interactive, encouraging you to ask questions and think critically rather than just memorising content!
With four years of tutoring experience in schools and community settings, I’ve worked with learners of ages 6-16 and learners of all abilities, including those with special educational needs (SEN).
