Each introductory session includes a timed assessment to gauge the student’s level of knowledge and areas of strength and weakness. Subsequent sections include building up on the course content where the students find difficulty using resources I provide to teach and reinforce concepts and make the student more confident with them. A Level and GCSE students will also be taken through both old and new spec past papers to help them gain a thorough understanding of the type of questions that come up in the actual exams and develop sound techniques in approaching these questions to secure a maximum amount of marks. In addition to this I create shared folders on google docx for students to upload their work to in order to keep track of their progress and to refer back to for revision purposes.
I expect students seeking tuition from me to be proactive in their learning taking every chance they can to question concepts they may be unsure about to leave no stone unturned in maximising their academic performance, even if they require the same question to be answered a hundred times they must not hesitate until they are clear about the topic they are learning. Furthermore, I also expect a level of independence in self-study outside of lesson times to ensure they are able to tackle mathematical problems in exams with intuitive thinking and applied concepts rather than simply being spoon-fed answers to problems. The commitment to better grades is a two way street I will ensure that students get customised lesson plans to suit their needs and the in-lesson support from myself to gain the ability to confidently attempt questions but they must put in the effort in practicing these questions over and over to perfect their approach to them.
