I am a trained primary school teacher with two years of general classroom practice.
I have completed a PGCE and acquired a QTS. I have a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature after studying English Language and the sciences at A Level. Additionally, I have experience tutoring young adults to achieve high GCSE scores and pass their functional skills test in English. My teaching ESOL experience has been in the English Teaching Unit at the University of Leicester and teaching pupils from the comfort of their home to help them become confident and capable speakers, readers and writers.
I have a love of all things related to reading and as an education practitioner, I have a passion for teaching English. I place great importance on oracy as articulate speakers lead to articulate writers. My lessons will cover key areas of the curriculum depending on your age and stage of learning. For example, parts of the KS1 curriculum will cover basic language rules such as apostrophes for possessions and learning to use adjectives. However, curriculum components for A Level pupils include identifying word classes and sociolinguistic theories.
Ultimately, your lessons will be tailored to your specific needs and your style of learning. Pupil autonomy will also be prioritised as we will share discussions along the way on how lessons can be tailored to you. We will begin by discussing your current level of education and where you intend to be in the future. Lessons will always be practical and immersive to maximise the pupil voice and your engagement.
