I provide structured and supportive lessons that are specifically designed for each of my students' abilities, goals, and preferred methods of learning. My approach is based upon establishing a well-defined and logical pathway for my students to learn concepts in depth rather than simply memorizing them. I have achieved an A Band 1 in National 5 Mathematics and have experience tutoring the subject in secondary school, which has helped me develop a strong understanding of how students learn and where they commonly struggle.
Generally speaking, each lesson I teach has the same basic structure. First, I review my students' previous knowledge to help reinforce their foundational understanding and identify any areas where they may be struggling. Next, I introduce new material one step at a time, taking large concepts and breaking them down into smaller pieces that are easier to understand. Following this introduction, we go through some guided examples together so that my students can see firsthand how to apply what they have recently learned.
To wrap up the lesson, we transition from working together to providing my students with opportunities to independently practice what they have learned and complete exam-style questions to increase their confidence and ability to accurately perform under pressure.
My teaching methodology is interactive and adaptable. At any point during our lessons, if a student has a question or needs clarification regarding a concept, I will take the time to answer it. Additionally, if a student does not understand something after having it explained once, I will continue to explain it in different ways until they completely understand. I combine explaining, discussing, and practicing to keep lessons interesting and productive.
When mistakes occur in our lessons, I do not treat them negatively. Instead, I view them as an integral component of the learning process and utilize them to enhance my students' understanding. In addition to being experienced in working with students of varying academic levels (from those requiring assistance in developing self-assurance to those seeking to achieve high marks), I also emphasize techniques used for examinations, time management skills, and strategic approaches to answering exam questions; these are frequently equally significant as knowing the subject matter itself.
Ultimately, my primary objective is to establish an atmosphere conducive to learning that is both relaxing and concentrated. Students should be confident that they will receive support throughout the process, be challenged appropriately, and be able to consistently demonstrate improvement over a period of time.
