I am currently in the process of obtaining my Teacher's College Degree, and have tutored students individually over the past four years. My English lessons focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing. This enables students to have a well rounded understanding of the English language and the skills and knowledge to apply English in the real world.
I use educational assessment tools which are conducted to identify educational needs and then tailor instructional plans to correlate with specific needs. This knowledge is integrated with the curriculum objectives and are aligned with National Learning Standards. In the lessons I assist in the learning of grammar including different grammatical rules. I facilitate the development of new vocabulary and spelling. As well, I teach the students new concepts of the English language.
I have the availability to utilize technology and learning software to help students learn and retain new information. In rudimentary students bilingual dictionaries and electronic translators may be used. As the students ability and knowledge increases these will be systematically phased out. Through out the lessons I encourage students to learn on their own and I provide the tools which allow them to do so.
Each student has their own personality, learning style, interests and educational needs. I understand and look forward to building a rapport with each individual student in order to get the best out of their educational experience. The lesson plans reflect this and will match the students one on one pace so they won't feel pressure to keep up and are less likely to become bored with information they have already learned.
