Gregor Carlin

Hello, I’m Gregor, a British native English teacher from Scotland. I offer friendly, structured one-to-one online English lessons for older children, teenagers and adults. Whether you want to speak more confidently, strengthen your grammar or prepare for IELTS, we will work towards practical goals at a pace that suits you.

My English teaching experience began in 2016. I taught children online with DaDaABC from 2016 to 2019 and have also taught in schools in Beijing, Nanchong and Chongqing. My experience includes primary and lower-secondary English, teaching in an IB Primary Years Programme setting, private adult English lessons and IELTS preparation. I hold a bachelor’s degree in English Education and a 120-hour TESOL certificate, and I am studying towards a master’s degree in ESL Teaching.

In our first lesson, we will discuss your goals, current level and the situations in which you want to use English. Lessons can focus on everyday conversation, vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, reading or writing. For adult learners, we can practise professional communication and useful workplace situations. IELTS preparation can include speaking practice, writing feedback and focused work on the skills you need to improve.

My lessons combine clear explanations with plenty of opportunities to use English. I use guided discussion, short tasks, role-plays and examples linked to your interests. I offer sentence starters and visual support when helpful, and give constructive feedback without interrupting every sentence. Younger learners benefit from manageable activities and a patient, encouraging approach. Optional practice between lessons can help you build on what we cover.

Online lessons cost £30 per 60 minutes. I am available from Monday, 26 October 2026, with lessons after 12 noon UK time. Please message me to discuss a suitable time and your learning goals.

Outside teaching, I enjoy guitar, piano, martial arts and football. I am also learning Mandarin Chinese, so I understand how it feels to search for the right words in another language. My aim is to help you feel comfortable practising and make steady progress.
