About me

I use Zoom and Notability to make my tuition quick, clear and accessible and to enable you to speak and direct what we do. You choose topics or we go through exam papers to help you to write clear, well-explained solutions. I have revision sheets and introductory notes of my own design, and I can teach any level of maths, from GCSE through to Oxford and Cambridge entrance. I have taught for entrance exam to top schools in the UK and abroad, and for specialist institutions like Sandhurst Military Academy. As a class teacher I taught in top schools in Bristol UK and in state schools. I was Head of Mathematics, Director of Studies and Deputy Head of(Academic) at QEH, Bristol, in charge of everything concerning teaching and learning. I was an Independent Schools Inspector and a member of Independent Schools Council's mathematics Experts Group.

After I had done my mocks for year 10 maths, I started having tutorial lessons with Granville. Before his lessons, I was struggling with knowing how to answer the questions/ what methods I needed to use to answer the questions and how I could apply my knowledge. Granville, helped me understand which methods I needed to use by going through past papers with me and starting at the bottom of the paper with hardest questions first and then working our way up to the easier questions at top and if I needed help on a particular topic, Granville would go through them step by step and give little tricks/ tips to help me remember. He was always patient and very supportive, I would definitely recommend. Overtime, I felt more confident in maths and in my GCSE scored exactly the grade I wanted for my course. Thank you Granville!

I honestly can’t recommend Granville enough. He taught me GCSE Maths, A Level Maths and Further Maths, and I genuinely don’t think I would have achieved the same results without his help. Thanks to his teaching, I achieved a Grade 9 in GCSE Maths and an A* in A Level Maths. One of the things I appreciated most was how he made sure I truly understood every topic instead of just memorising methods. If I didn’t understand something, he would always find another way to explain it until it finally clicked. He had so many different ways of approaching the same concept, which made even the hardest topics much easier to grasp. He also came to every lesson with excellent resources and carefully prepared questions that really helped reinforce my understanding. What really sets Granville apart is how much he pushes you academically. He encourages you to think deeply, challenges your understanding and never lets you settle for doing the minimum. Granville tutored me for A-level maths in year 13. I went from a predicted C to achieving an A in just a few months thanks to him. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable in and around the topics he teaches, it’s obvious he really enjoys teaching and cares about your success. Our tutoring sessions consisted of working through past papers. When i started, it would take us just over 2hrs to finish a paper and by the end it was closer to 1hr. Normally when teachers use this style of teaching, when a student makes a wrong move in solving a question, the teacher corrects them and moves on. I remember Granville would always ask me why i chose to make the decision i did and within a few questions he would understand immediately where the gap in my knowledge was. It was this skill that i believe made my learning so rapid and effortless. I honestly think without his help, i wouldn’t have had my offer to go to uni without having to take a gap year. Thank you Granville!

I had regular/weekly 1 hour sessions. Great communication when booking recurring times aswell as switching days. Lessons had a prompt start and covered a large range of topics. From questions I brought aswell as content I didn’t understand. Content was covered in great depth allowing me to then move onto harder questions. Very easy to ask questions
