I meet the students where they are I can create a tailored plan based off of topics that they need to cover in order to excel and I explain every step in the process to the student so they can understand what we are doing and why.
I adapt the sessions to the students needs as some need more formal and structured sessions but others need balanced and guided sessions.
For an example, if we are doing a past paper and they are struggling with a question, I will help them through it and identify if it is the exam wording they are struggling with or the topic. I will then get the student to complete some practice on the weaker area until they feel more confident. We will then do a recap on this the next week to check that they have remembered how to answer the question.
