Typically my lessons are a mixture of teaching new topics and revising old ones, guided by the syllabus, particular sticky points I have identified, and anything that has arisen in school that the student wants to go over. I find working through past papers extremely helpful so try to introduce one every couple of weeks, depending on what works for the student.
Generally I teach more verbally than visually, with lessons taking the form of instruction followed by conversation and working through practice sets together. I encourage questioning, and I believe it's very important for a student to feel comfortable admitting if they don't understand something I have said. I try to approach topics from a variety of angles to find the one most suited for the individual's comprehension.
I aim to maintain a friendly yet professional environment and focus on the goals of the student, tailoring the classes to suit any specific needs or focus.
