Based on the exam board, we will be studying different texts which will be used by your exam board and practicing exam style questions which will vary based on whether you want to focus on literature or language. To prepare you for GCSEs we will do a short memory task from the last lesson, continuing with analysis of the next part of the text whether that be a new act or poem, ending with an exam style question. However, this will vary based on what the student feels like they’re not too good at even if that’s focusing on revision materials.

All information will be relayed to the student during the lesson through a powerpoint presentation. In the first lesson, we will discuss what exam board the student’s English GCSE is under, then explaining the different pieces used for literature. This will give them an understanding of what to expect our lessons to prevail and deepen my knowledge of what the student has learnt in their current English lessons and any weak areas they wish to correct.

During my English GCSE, I was gaining consistent grade 8s and 9s, making sure to maintain it through trying out different revision materials and acknowledging what were the best ones to use based on my way of learning. Additionally, I completed work experience working with deaf children within a school, giving me the background on how to communicate and find what works best for a student to excel, making sure all the knowledge is completely absorbed.
