In my sessions, I prioritise creating a happy, supportive, and welcoming environment with my student to ensure that they are comfortable asking for help no matter what. If there is a topic that they are struggling with, I like to prepare a sequence of learning points which I write and draw out on the virtual whiteboard so that if there is anything they do not understand, they can stop me in that moment in order to prevent any lack of foundational understanding. Following this, I use worked examples which slowly increase in difficulty until they have full understanding of the topic at hand and can handle questions of all difficulties especially in an exam setting.
I like to promote a fearless learning environment whilst also taking time to ensure topics are taught carefully and thoroughly, I believe extra time spent earlier in a topic is extra time saved when doing questions in an exam! Using my personal exam experience, I believe I can support the student by advising them with knowledge I wish I had been told before my exams :)
