Georgia Bruce

I graduated from Oxford University in 2017 with a 2.1 in Classics and I'm now based in North London where I work as a tutor, actor and writer.

I started mentoring in 2015 while still at university and, over the years, have gained experience working with a huge range of students from age 6 to 18 in various subjects. My specialist teaching subject is Latin - it was my favourite thing to learn and, no surprise, has now become a great joy for me to teach! I have also worked with students facing Common Entrance, interviews, GCSEs, A-levels and uni applications.

My aim as a tutor is always to pass on my own enthusiasm for learning to my students, to keep the lessons engaging, and to tailor the work specifically to the individual. Every student's needs will be different, their learning styles unique. With that in mind, my initial sessions with students will always be explorative, to figure out what suits them best. Do they respond to, say, short bursts of work, with regular breaks? Or rather are they happy to engage in slower paced, longer bouts of work? Do they get greater enjoyment from learning if it is in some way game-ified? Do they work better on paper or on screen? I'm very to work in collaboration with the student themself, as well as their parents, to figure out what works best for them.

Broadly, I tend to keep my sessions structured, and always outline ahead of time what our focus each time we meet will be, so that the student knows what is expected of them. Beyond that, my main aim is to share my own enthusiasm for learning in whatever way I can! I will always try to tailor my sessions to a specific student's needs and interests, and will continue to adapt as we go along.
