I would do one-to-one lessons with the student. They should tell me what topics in maths they struggle with or I can look other any previous assessments, tests or any mock exams they might have done they done to analyse what they particularly need help with. I would explain a topic by doing example questions and then give the student the chance to try the questions themselves to see if they are able to complete them. If they need any help I will do that. I would also set them some exam style questions for them to do at home which will help them master the specific topic. If needed further assistance I will be more than happy to help. I prefer to do lessons in person as they will allow me to see perfectly how a student approaches a question and I could easily understand what mistakes or problems they might be facing. It also helps reduce the chance of getting distracted if I was to do online lessons. If it is a GCSE student I can help both students doing the foundation level or the higher level. For GCSE students I will also tell them calculator tricks which will help them not only save time in the exams, but also make sure their answers will be correct. I can also give advice on time management when doing the exam, but also tips on how to relive stress before an exam. If ever needed the student can always message me on email for any help they might need and I will be sure to answer.
