Hello, my name is Grace. I am a PhD-qualified Science educator with over 15 years of experience in teaching, student support and academic mentoring. I have taught learners across secondary, further and higher education and currently teach Science in a secondary-school setting.
I provide supportive after-school tuition for secondary and GCSE students studying Biology, Chemistry and Physics. My lessons are suitable for students who need help understanding classroom topics, completing homework confidently, catching up after an absence, improving their grades or preparing for assessments and GCSE examinations.
Every student learns differently, so I begin by discussing the learner’s needs, current level, schoolwork and areas of difficulty. I then create lessons that focus on the topics requiring the most attention. I explain scientific ideas in clear, accessible language and use familiar examples to connect abstract concepts with everyday life.
A typical lesson may include a review of previous learning, a clear explanation of the chosen topic, guided examples, diagrams, targeted questions and independent practice. For GCSE students, I also use past-paper questions to develop examination technique, scientific vocabulary, data interpretation and confidence in answering questions of different mark values. Lessons can be adapted to the student’s curriculum and examination board.
My teaching style is patient, encouraging and interactive. Students are free to ask questions, revisit difficult ideas and work at a pace that allows genuine understanding. I provide constructive feedback and help learners recognise both their strengths and the areas they still need to develop.
My aim is not simply to help students complete their immediate schoolwork. I want them to understand Science more confidently, develop effective study habits and become increasingly independent learners.
I offer online tuition and may also arrange local face-to-face lessons within Merthyr Tydfil. One-to-one and small-group sessions are available, depending on students’ needs and interests.
