Throughout my time as a student myself and as a student support worker, I have built experience with a diverse range of students and learning styles. As such my sessions would aim to work in the best style for your learning. This could involve trialling multiple methods, including: presentations, study techniques, note taking methods, exam question practice, practicing teaching a topic to someone else etc. In addition, if desired we can work together to build other skills, for example creating a presentation or speaking about a subject with others.
As well as my adaptability, I have worked with many neurodiverse students and am neurodiverse myself, making it easier to work through those difficulties and use alternative strategies to find learning solutions. This might include breaking down tasks together, switching between topics or looking into other skills that are involved in studying and learning.
My aim is to make learning enjoyable - if there is a topic you like or a way of understanding things that works for you, we can work together to utilise those things to build your knowledge.
As an active student, I understand the different demands learning has on the student but also when we might need that extra push so that we can achieve our full potential. This comes with the knowledge that learning is an ongoing process and, as such, pushes me to ensure students have the best experience of learning possible. This does not mean skipping over the hard parts but instead is the emphasis on supporting learning, especially the harder parts of learning.
