Looking to start and need a supportive teacher who loves working with beginners? Seeking a new perspective and guidance for music board exams or auditions? Wanting to improve your skills and have fun making music? Get in touch to start your personal cello journey. As I’ve been teaching for over 15 years, I have experience with students of all different ages and abilities who have different goals for their learning and reasons for wanting to play!
I grew up in New Zealand and started learning the cello at 9 years old. After completing a BMus in Performance in 2010, I moved to Austria and completed my studies focussed on music pedagogy in 2016. I taught cello there for several years before moving to Wales in 2023! The past two years I have been working for Music Masters in London, teaching cello in a primary school in South London. During that time I also undertook a PGCE(i) in group instrumental teaching, refreshing my knowledge and expanding my skills in order to support my students’ learning. In my free time I enjoy gardening, reading, and playing games.
I believe that every student has different needs and do my best to meet each person where they are musically and technically, as well as emotionally! Not every is going to want or need to do exams, but for some they are a brilliant way to provide focus and motivation. My main aim for my teaching is to provide my students with a toolbox of ideas that they will be able to draw on their whole life long. I want music to be rewarding and fun for every student I teach!
