I have not had any previous experience as a tutor however, I have taught my 11 year old nephew for years both virtually and in person. I would describe my teaching style as encouraging and friendly. I prioritise making sure that my student is comfortable with the lesson both in content and delivery.
Due to this, I am extremely flexible so would be able to cater the lessons to whatever my students need. If interactivity and verbal reassurance is important in terms of your understanding then I will plan my lessons around that. On the other hand, I can work with a student that would prefer written reassurance. In this case, I am happy to work on shortquickfire quizzes to test knowledge and understanding.
I think a quick catch up at the start of the lesson is an important base line. I myself, am very aware that not everyday we are in the same mood dependant on a lot of different reasons. Just understanding a bit more of how we are all feeling at the start of the lesson and working with or around that is a vital part of teaching in my opinion.
I would like to use short form videos as visuals of a conception during lessons - having various different ways of knowing a topic whether verbally, visually or written gives a higher likelihood of having a full understanding. Specifically, in maths where there are multiple proofs for the same outcome it is important that we remember that it means we can understand something in multiple ways.
