The key part to think about with my lessons is teaching exam technique and confidence with the whole curriculum, as I only sat my a levels 3 years ago, I still understand what it takes to do well in those exams, as well as in both gcse and a level comfortably getting the highest grade in maths (9 and A* respectively.)
Usually the lessons are over teams, where I share my screen and write all my calculations on my laptop for the students to see. My main aim is preparing them for exams rather than teaching them new content, and my lessons mainly consist of giving a recap on the topic, a quick overview of the key concepts, before jumping straight into practical exam questions. As time goes on, I start to challenge the student more, by finding more complex questions as well as timing them to speed up their exam technique.
I have had 5 previous students, all with glowing references for my service, and currently I am still tutoring an A level student going into year 13. My technique for teaching has given my tutees a lot more confidence with maths, with all of my previous students increasing their final grades, for example my last student increased their grade by nearly 3 grades.
I am very flexible with my lessons, all the student needs to do is turn up on teams at the right time and give me an indication of what they are struggling with and we can start tackling it straight away.
