Before lesson starts, I go through my checklist on what topic the student is currently on or what the students wants to learn, I then proceed to create some slides involving practice questions and notes. I then prepare homework(if requested) so I could send it to them before the lesson ends.
After lesson starts, according to what the student is learning, I give a starter question just for warm-up and recap on last lesson. With that, I could assess whether the student is able to move onto a new topic with ROG(red, orange, green) - Red indicates the student would need to go through again during lessons; Orange indicates the student has space to improve and they should be revising in their own time to perfect the topic; Green means the student has no problem solving and they are fine to move on.
During the lesson, I first focus on teaching in-depth knowledge so student can fully understand what it is actually used for and the method of solving the problem. Afterwards, if the student has no confusions, I demonstrate how to answer an example question with each detailed steps. Subsequently, student would then do an example question, exam styled questions, and possibly grade 9 questions if it goes well. By the time we finish doing all these, there would be small amount of time for questions regarding anything, which I would help them with detailed explanations.
Lastly, after the session is finished, student should be able to understand the topic fully and different concepts involved. I go back to my checklist mark this topic as done if it is finished. I will also be answering questions or concerns from student 24/7, mostly night time.
