I am an enthusiastic and adaptable maths tutor who focuses on delivering clear, engaging lessons that build strong understanding and confidence. Through my time as a long-term tutor with GoStudent, I have developed an adaptable teaching style that prioritises understanding over memorisation. My lessons are structured but flexible, allowing me to adjust in real time depending on how the student is responding.
I use a wide range of tools to enhance learning, including graphics, slideshows, videos, games, and interactive whiteboards. This variety keeps lessons engaging and helps explain concepts in multiple ways, which is especially important for students who may struggle with traditional teaching methods. My aim is always to break down complex topics into simple, logical steps so that students not only arrive at the correct answer but understand how and why they got there.
I place a strong emphasis on building confidence. Many students come into maths feeling unsure of their ability, so I work to create a supportive and relaxed environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Over time, this approach helps students become more independent and resilient in their learning.
Alongside tutoring, I work as a teaching assistant in a secondary school, which has strengthened my ability to communicate effectively with students of all abilities. Outside of education, I enjoy spending time in nature, particularly walking in the mountains, as well as playing football and producing music. These interests help me connect with students on a personal level and bring energy and relatability into my lessons.
Overall, my goal is to make maths accessible, engaging, and something students can feel confident in tackling.
