My maths lessons are structured, supportive, and fully tailored to each student’s individual needs and goals. I believe that maths becomes far less intimidating when concepts are explained clearly and broken down into manageable steps, so I focus on building strong foundations before moving on to more challenging problems. Each lesson follows a clear format, beginning with a quick recap to reinforce prior learning and identify any gaps, followed by detailed explanations, worked examples, and guided practice.
Lessons are highly interactive rather than lecture-based. I encourage students to ask questions, explain their reasoning, and actively engage with problems so they can develop confidence as well as accuracy. I use a range of methods, including visual explanations, step-by-step modelling, and exam-style questions, to suit different learning styles and help students apply what they’ve learned in assessments. Pace is always adapted to the student—whether they need extra time to understand a topic or are ready to be pushed further.
I have experience helping students at different levels of ability, including those who feel anxious about maths or lack confidence due to past difficulties. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and flexible, and I aim to create a calm environment where making mistakes is seen as part of learning, not something to fear. I regularly give clear feedback and practical tips so students understand how to improve and track their progress.
Overall, my goal is to help students feel more confident, capable, and independent in maths, while also improving their problem-solving skills and exam performance. I want maths to feel logical, achievable, and even enjoyable, rather than overwhelming.
