In my lessons, I try and challenge my students in order to extend their knowledge. I ask that my students perform all the reasonable calculations without a calculator as I believe a strong mental arithmetic helps save time on the exam and in real life. I encourage my students to practice their newly learnt maths skills daily to make sure that muscle memory as well as mental memory is formed as the two are codependent in maths.
I prefer using real life scenarios and problems to explain tough topics to make them more memorable and applied. I often like to explain mathematics within the context of its history of origins as I it gives students more understanding of applications.
