I strongly believe in engagement during a lesson, where the student and I can comfortably break down each problem into small pieces and solve them using memorable techniques (such as anagrams, rhymes, acronyms) so students can remember the method rather than just memorising the answer to a specific question. I structure my lessons by starting with a Q&A about what the student may want to focus on in today's lesson in terms of exam technique or type of questions, but also ease them in by a starter question about previous content they have learnt. This allows to strengthen the student's memory, helping to build a habit of active recall. Any specific requests about a certain exam question can be relayed to me prior to the lesson, therefore I can plan A* level answers for the student to refer to.
