I like to begin each lesson with a simple pencil on paper exercise, working on key principles of perspective and expression. This can then be compared session to session to see the progress. I like to them get straight into the aim of the session, demonstrating techniques and allowing the student to delve in. I’ll give constant guidance whilst also allowing a few mistakes to occur in order to provide key experience to learn from. Once I feel a topic/medium has been developed I will provide a more advanced session with critical analysis, pushing the student to that next level. I hope my students will want to pursue the topics covered, outside of session hours as a result of their enthusiasm and willingness to progress. Whilst also making sure they give themselves adequate down time to recover and prepare for their next session. I have a wealth of material knowledge as a result of my expansive academic background and will be able to progress students both technically and cognitively.
