My lessons are engaging, supportive, and tailored to the individual needs of each student. I always try to build a positive relationship with my tutees by finding mutual interests and linking them to the lesson content wherever possible. This helps make lessons more enjoyable and memorable, allowing students to feel comfortable and confident while learning. I believe that students learn best when they are relaxed and interested in the material, so I aim to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere where questions are encouraged and mistakes are viewed as opportunities to improve.
I structure my lessons around the needs of each student, focusing on both their strengths and areas for development. Lessons typically include explanations of key concepts, worked examples, practice questions, and regular reviews of previous topics to reinforce understanding. For students preparing for the 11+, I can provide support with Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning, as well as helping them develop exam techniques, time management skills, and confidence under test conditions. I also use practice questions and past-paper style exercises to help students become familiar with the format of the examination.
I currently attend Alcester Grammar School and have experience helping students prepare for the 11+ examination on numerous occasions. Having successfully gone through the process myself, I understand the challenges students may face and can offer practical advice from my own experience. In addition, I am a hockey coach at my local hockey club, where I regularly teach and support younger players. This role has helped me develop strong communication, leadership, and teaching skills, which I bring into every lesson.
