I aim to provide an easy to follow lesson structure, for both students and parents. The target of the first lesson will be for me to get to know the student as well as getting them comfortable around me to allow for an environment where the student is comfortable asking me for help and sharing with me what areas they would like to improve in. Lessons after that will follow an adaptable structure where we spend the first few minutes going over what we covered in our previous session, then spend the rest of the time learning a new topic of the syllabus or a skill such as manipulating fractions. This part of our session will start with me teaching the student aforementioned skill or topic and showing them how to apply this to questions, i'll demonstrate by doing one question, then we will go through one together, then i'll give the student a few questions of increasing difficulty which i aim to offer little assistance with. I will then repeat this process with different part of the topic or ways to apply the skill as the lesson progresses. This may be intense for the student so short breaks, if necessary, may be taken in order to prevent any "short- circuiting". The end of the lesson will be me recapping what we had just learned, asking the student what parts they're confident with and what may need more improvement so that I can adapt the next lesson. I also aim to share some revision techniques or sources for the student to complete independently between sessions.
