About Me:
I recently graduated with a Master’s in Violin Performance from Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where I was awarded a scholarship. I have studied with acclaimed teachers including Simon Blendis, Mary Hofman and Owen Cox. I enjoy performing a range of musical genres, from classical to folk and from pop to jazz, with both orchestras and smaller ensembles. I was Leader of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales in 2022. I have recorded at Abbey Road Studios and with BBC Radio 3, and have performed at renowned venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, St John’s Smith Square and the Barbican. As well as private teaching in London, I have experience holding workshops for a range of ages with Sinfonia Cymru and NEW Sinfonia. Playing the violin has always brought me immense joy, and there is nothing quite like being able to pass that joy on to others through teaching. It is always a privilege to be involved in helping someone reach their full potential, which is why teaching is as important to me as my own practice and performance. Lessons with me are a safe space to learn, experiment and make mistakes, whether you are looking to learn a fun new hobby or pursue a career in performance.
About my Lessons:
I offer private violin lessons to students aged five and upwards, from beginner-level to Grade 8. I recommend hour-long lessons for most students and 30-minute lessons for very young children. Every student is unique, and my job is to help you achieve your personal goals and inspire you to chase your dreams. Playing the violin involves many skills, from physical aspects of coordination, to mental aspects of counting and rhythm, to psychological aspects such as building confidence and managing performance anxiety. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to hone your skills, I will teach you how to practise effectively in a way that works for you - sometimes less is more! - and how to look after your body as you do so.
