I like to take an approach more focused towards challenging the learner. By letting the student try to work through questions themselves ; it lets them learn the difficult part of maths: figuring out where to start and develop from there. I prefer to give hints or small nudges in the right direction to the answer rather than to just explain what to do, encouraging their own thinking. Of course, if a topic is unknown then I like to take a methodical approach, utilising a whiteboard to explain methods that I have previously used and tested as proven in my A* in Maths A-level.
I have prior experience tutoring students of a wide age range and was able to communicate with them through stressful exam periods to achieve their goals. My peers would describe me as enthusiastic, honest and dedicated and I like to transfer this into my tutoring where I hope that the student can be comfortable to discuss where they may be struggling in school or in the homework which I'd like to set them if they wanted it.
