I'm a big believer in practice questions - you cannot get good at maths without practice. So depending on their proficiency in their chosen topic for that session, we will go through the learning required to begin with, following from that, I will use worked examples and go through these with the student so they know exactly how to approach questions they may be asked in the exam. Finally, I will let the student do their own work on their own practice questions, marking it as we go along and seeing where their mistakes lie. Coming to the end of the session, I provide the student with a summary of what they did well, where they need to improve, and what they need to do before our next session.
Across my years of tutoring, I have found this to be the best way for students to improve their performance in exams, and most importantly, begin to understand Mathematics. I'm a very personable man who likes to form a good working relationship with all my tutees; having tutored both male and female students, I get on well with both and I think this is key to fostering the mutual respect required for a good student/teacher relationship.
Outside of tutoring, I have recently completed an undergraduate degree in Philosophy at the University of Warwick, but prior to this, I completed two years of Electrical and Electronic Engineering before switching courses. I also have A levels in Maths, Further Maths, and Physics, with A's in Maths and Further Maths, so I have a strong background in Mathematics. I'm due to begin training to be a Maths teacher in September 2023, so I have a passion for teaching Maths.
