Hi, I'm Lu and I have been tutoring students for just over 2 years in a variety of subjects. This, alongside having revised alongside my friends in a boarding school for both the GCSEs and IB, has left me certain that collaborative learning is crucial to doing well.

From teaching each other to making acronyms and humour-filled 'shortcuts' to make learning easier, my lessons are full of communication and joy. After all, without this no one would feel the motivation to learn. Ultimately, I believe tutoring is all about having fun whilst learning - this greatly boosts confidence and interest.

I am always adaptable and thinking on my feet with different approaches, breaking topics down into smaller, more manageable chunks and using various patterns and analogies to make seemingly abstract concepts more tangible. I work a lot with questions out loud, visual learning, and making it applicable to real life, and always encourage students to try to explain topics to me, before consolidating this to the best of my abilities.

I also like to learn more about my students, their personal interests, and feelings, which in turn allows me to cater the lessons more to them as individuals. At the end of the day, nothing is more rewarding to me than seeing someone understand a concept they were struggling with, and to hear their confidence grow as they talk.
