My sessions are supportive, structured and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I begin by creating a calm and welcoming space where students feel comfortable to talk openly about what they are finding challenging and what they would like to achieve. Together, we set clear and realistic goals so that each session has a sense of direction and purpose.
The format of my sessions is flexible but generally includes a check-in, exploration of current challenges and practical coaching strategies. I focus on helping students break down larger tasks into manageable steps, improve organisation and develop effective study habits and routines. I also work on mindset, confidence-building, and motivation, helping students recognise their strengths and build self-belief.
My approach is collaborative and student-led. I do not simply instruct but instead guide students to find their own solutions and develop independence. I use active listening, reflection and gentle questioning to help students think through problems and develop strategies that work for them. Where helpful, I introduce practical tools such as planning techniques, time management strategies and goal-setting frameworks.
Alongside my counselling training, I bring experience of working with a range of individuals, including neurodiverse clients, which has strengthened my ability to adapt my approach to different learning styles and needs. As a parent of a neurodiverse child, I also have first-hand understanding of the additional challenges some students may face with focus, organisation and emotional regulation and I am skilled in supporting these areas with patience and empathy.
Overall, my lessons are encouraging, structured yet flexible and focused on both academic progress and personal development. My aim is to empower students with practical skills and confidence that they can carry forward into their studies and beyond.
