I have two years of teaching and mentoring experience from volunteer work and I work well with young people - however I am open to tutoring all ages who are studying at (or leading up to) GCSE level.
I run relaxed sessions, working at the pace desired by the student and I can adapt my teaching style to suit candidates' needs, whilst remaining structured. My aim when teaching is to make sure there aren't any gaps in the student's knowledge, so I focus on following the specification closely, looking at questions that may come up on exams, and teaching the necessary techniques required to approach them. I offer clear explanations of the concepts covered and I encourage growth and academic development.
Lessons will be typically focused on singular topics at a time, and I will assign the student practice questions to demonstrate their understanding. If this suits the student, I will also run lessons covering multiple areas, especially because harder exam questions tend to require an understanding of multiple topics.
I encourage students to show me any of their previous work, such as past tests and exams, so I can examine their understanding of the subject content and where they may need improvement. This is also so they can reflect on their previous work and how they think they can improve. I am supportive of all skill levels and I take into consideration what the student's personal goals are when it comes to what they want to achieve in their exams.
Overall, my goal is to build confidence and foster students to reach their full potential.
