Emily Jane Miskimmin

As a conscientious student myself, I have a strong passion and appreciation for education! I have recently completed my studies at Maryville College in Tennessee, majoring in International Business Studies and minoring in Counselling Psychology. Now, returning home to Northern Ireland, I will continue my Bachelor’s Degree of Science studying Psychology at Ulster University.

My teaching style is largely holistic; I believe it is important to cater the teaching style to the needs of the learner. As I get to know my students I will grow to learn what is the best style of learning for them as an individual.

I have learned a lot from attending College in the United States, including new teaching formats that I would like to implement into my teaching style. I highly value creative expression and have learned that it can in fact be incorporated into formal education! Everyone has different life experiences, and in the field of psychology we know how important it is to recognise and embrace these unique experiences.

Sessions will be casual and comfortable for the learner and tailored to their needs. I also use supporting content in my teaching style, this may look like book recommendations, podcasts, or relevant research articles and case studies - I have found that the integration of these additional resources are extremely helpful for learners to gain new understanding to the topic.
