Emily Bowers

I am currently a TA in a semh school, working with students ranging in ages from 8-16. Prior to entering this job, I completed a degree in Primary Education, which has provided me with a solid background in teaching and education.

Through my degree and my work, I have build my skills in differentiating learning for each students needs, and have built a solid background in working with students who have special educational needs. This has further developed through my part time master, of which I am currently completing, in inclusion, specialises in autistic children.

As such, I am best placed to assist in tutoring students of all needs, and would be able to input my own experience and knowledge into this.

When looking at tutoring, I would aim to build each lesson around what best engages them, implementing the things they enjoy into it. With my knowledge built through my degree, I have a secure background in the best teaching practices to ensure new knowledge is synthesised and retained, which is what I would work to implement in my tutoring.

As I have a degree in Primary Education, I can be best placed to work with those of a younger age. However, my currently class with whom I work are aged 14, and this has given me a greater background in working with older students. I am also acutely aware that not all secondary students may be at their expected age range in terms of education, and this is an area in which I have been assisting in my current role.
