When a new student starts, I ask them what their weak and struggling topics are. I take note and use great maths resources to help them understand, I continuously tell me students to ask questions about anything they find hard to understand, this gives me an overview of their weaknesses and allows me to prepare a well-learned lesson for the next session. Students can also tell me any work/homework they have and need assistance with and I would also be of help for that.
