Working with my peers has allowed me to develop a tutoring style well suited for teenagers. I treat my students as people and try to get to know them and I understand them better so I can understand how they think. My sessions will tend to ask with a question either from me, or from my student, that allows us to further explore a chosen text or skill. I take a conversational approach instead of lecturing, explaining how I understand a text while aiding my student coming to their own conclusions. I encourage disagreement! When I succeed as a tutor is when my student makes me really consider their perspecitve, I use my tutorials as a space to foster confidence in conversation as well as outstanding essay technique.
