My lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s individual needs. I usually begin by identifying what the student finds most challenging, whether that’s reading, writing, spelling, comprehension, or confidence. From there, I plan lessons that balance clear explanation, guided practice, and independent work, so students can gradually build skills and independence.
Lessons are interactive and encouraging rather than rushed. I break concepts down into manageable steps and use examples that are age-appropriate and engaging. For younger or lower-ability students, I focus on developing strong foundations in reading and literacy, including phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension. For GCSE students, I work on exam skills, essay structure, language analysis, and improving written accuracy.
I have experience volunteering with young people who struggle with reading and literacy skills, which has helped me develop patience, adaptability, and an understanding of how to explain ideas in simple, clear ways. I aim to create a calm and positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
As an A-grade A-level English student who has studied English for 14 years, I have a strong understanding of the subject and current curriculum expectations. I use this knowledge to help students improve both their skills and confidence, supporting them to make steady progress and enjoy learning English.
