My lessons are tailored to what my students want out of the sessions. I will then provide learning outcomes for each sessions and hence a lesson plan based on this. For an example for an intermediate language learner I would start with a vocabulary game, which provides a key vocab list for that week, that is in the same domain of use. We could then have a conversation in English for 10 minutes on a chosen topic where the student tries to implement the vocab practised. I would write notes about the conversation and then provide constructive feedback. We then may focus on aspects of grammar for example tense or the use of negatives. For the main part of the lesson. I would use a board to present this and go through step by step with the students learning objectives in mind. I would then test the student using picture cards to let the student be creative with language in the context of what we are learning. For example with the present progressive tense I might show a picture of a person going a certain action. Eliciting a certain response. For example the ‘Mark is flying a helicopter’. To finish we would then do a fun quick thinking activity to finish including the vocab from the start and the main learning objective off the week!
