I have been teaching English at a secondary school since 2023. While working I have created and adapted entire units of work to be more mindful of and beneficial for students who struggle to access their education easily. I teach a large range of students with vastly different academic abilities, as well as working with many students who have English as an additional language or various different learning disabilities.

My lessons are tailored to individual needs and abilities, something that I am well suited for as I have a background in developmental psychology before getting my qualification to teach English at the secondary school level.

My lessons can cover both the Language and Literature GCSE's. However, I will adjust time spent on each to help focus on the areas you would like to/need to develop most. I like to focus on practicing writing and analytical skills in a way that helps students achieve higher scores in GCSE assessments. Additionally, I like to provide a breakdown of exam requirements and marking criteria in a way that is more student accessible. I believe that the best ways to improve academically are to first understand explicity what is being asked of you, and then to simply practice those new skills until they become natural.

I am an excellent listener who is compassionate and supportive. I want to push my students to achieve their best, and believe the way to do that is by listening to their thoughts and needs. Education takes many different forms and needs to be adaptable to the individual. That is what I provide for my students.
