Ella Hordern

I really enjoy teaching, and I want to make lessons fun, engaging and educational. I use a mix of tools for teaching, involving online virtual whiteboards, games, quizzes and stories, with an emphasis on images too. However, I would always try to tailor my lessons to how the individual student learns best, if they are a visual or auditory learner, or require writing things down to help. I am passionate about making students feel interested in the subject, to help them find it easier, and to encourage them to always ask why and dive deeper into it, with the consequence of a stronger understanding and ultimately achieve their academic goals.
I am a friendly, open and approachable person and I always want me students to ask questions or to feel they can ask me to explain concepts multiple times until they fully understand it. I am enthusiastic and motivated and want to share this. Having studied at Cambridge university for 6 years and sat many exams, I feel I have developed many different techniques that have helped me study, memorise, and revise, in order to do well and I would love to share this.
Developing critical thinking is such a transferable skill, and something that I have found invaluable when taking on new challenges, and learning new content. I would offer study tips and tricks, as well as working on the content for exams.
I would want to always be there for students to ask questions whenever they wanted, and to assist with any areas they found more difficult than others.
